The premier biology competition for U.S. high school students, engaging nearly 12,000 students a year. Students take a nationwide Open Exam through their school, and top scorers advance to a Semifinal Exam and, ultimately, the team representing the U.S. at the International Biology Olympiad.
Open to students in grades 9 to 12. The Open Exam is available to any high school biology student registered through a school; advancing to the Semifinal Exam requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Registration is through a school, which pays a flat $125 fee covering all its students.
