Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Nichable. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Nichable.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may use Nichable only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who should review these Terms with you. By allowing you to use Nichable, your parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the service.

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure. These Terms also apply to anyone who uses Nichable without an account, such as a visitor browsing listings or a recommender using a link a student sent them.

Nichable helps you discover and organize opportunities like internships, research programs, scholarships, and competitions, with personalized recommendations. Listings are compiled from publicly available information, and details such as deadlines, eligibility, and cost can change or be out of date by the time you see them.

Nichable does not guarantee that any opportunity is currently open, that you are eligible for it, or that applying will lead to any particular outcome. Always confirm deadlines, eligibility requirements, and application instructions directly with the organization offering the opportunity before you rely on anything shown here.

Recommendations, search results, explanations, and suggestions are generated automatically, including with artificial intelligence, and are provided for informational purposes only. They can be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong. AI-generated content is not advice from us, from the listed organization, or from any professional, and you shouldn't treat it as a substitute for reading the official program materials yourself.

Nothing on Nichable — including listings, guides, rankings, fit explanations, and essay or application suggestions — is college admissions, financial, legal, or other professional advice. Suggested edits to your writing are optional, and you decide what to accept. You are responsible for everything you submit to a program, and for following each program's rules, including any rules about using AI tools or outside help in applications and essays.

You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know right away (via the contact form below) if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe poses a risk to Nichable or other users.

When using Nichable, you agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, spider, or otherwise collect content from the service by automated means (other than general-purpose search engines indexing public pages in line with our robots.txt)
• Copy, republish, mirror, frame, or redistribute any substantial part of our listings, descriptions, or catalog, or use them to build or supply a competing product or database
• Use any content from the service to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine-learning or AI models
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, data, or underlying methods of the service, except where the law expressly allows it
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service, circumvent any access, security, or usage limits, or access areas of the service you aren't authorized to use
• Place unreasonable load on the service, or interfere with its normal operation
• Submit false or misleading information, impersonate anyone, or use the service on someone else's behalf without their permission
• Upload any file that isn't yours to share, or that contains malicious content

You keep ownership of anything you submit — your profile details, uploaded resume/transcript, and any reports or messages you send us. By submitting content, you give us permission to store and process it, including through our service providers, as needed to operate the features you use. You can remove most content yourself from Settings, or ask us to delete it via the contact form.

Some features let you share things by link, such as a saved list, your progress, a portfolio page, an essay, or a recommendation request. Anyone who has the link can view what you share, and they may pass it on. Only share what you're comfortable with others seeing, and don't share other people's personal information without their permission. You can turn most sharing off at any time, and we may remove shared content that violates these Terms.

If you send us ideas, suggestions, or other feedback, we may use them to improve Nichable without any obligation to you.

Nichable's name, branding, design, software, and content — including the opportunity descriptions and other text we write, and the selection, organization, and arrangement of our catalog — are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. Facts about programs, and the names, logos, and materials of the organizations that run them, belong to those organizations. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use Nichable for your own non-commercial purposes under these Terms; all other rights are reserved. If you believe something on Nichable infringes your copyright, see our Copyright / DMCA Policy.

Opportunity listings link out to organizations' own websites and application pages, which we don't control and aren't responsible for. Visiting a linked site is subject to that site's own terms and privacy practices, not ours.

Opportunity listings summarize publicly available information that the running organizations publish on their own official websites; we gather and summarize it, and each listing links to its source. We check listings against those sources before publishing and re-check them over time, but programs change and a listing can be out of date or incomplete. Always confirm details on the official page before applying. Our process, and what verification does and doesn't cover, is described on How we verify listings.

Nichable is an independent service. The organizations, programs, schools, and companies named in our listings are referred to for identification purposes only, so that students can find and research real opportunities. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in partnership with any of them, and nothing on Nichable should be read as implying such a relationship. All organization names, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Every opportunity listed on Nichable is offered and run by a third party, not by us. Any application you submit, and any program, job, internship, volunteer role, event, or travel you take part in, is solely between you and that organization and is subject to its own terms. We don't screen or supervise organizations or their staff, run background checks, or inspect locations, and we aren't responsible for their acts, omissions, decisions, payments, or the safety, quality, or legality of what they offer.

You take part in any opportunity at your own risk. Research the organization before applying, and involve a parent, guardian, or school counselor, especially before attending anything in person, sharing personal information, or paying any fee.

Nichable never charges students to apply to a listed opportunity and never asks for passwords or financial account information on an organization's behalf. If anyone claiming to represent Nichable or a listed program asks for payment or sensitive information in a way that seems wrong, don't provide it, and let us know.

Everything on Nichable can be used for free. If we offer an optional paid feature (such as a supporter plan) and you buy it, payments are handled by our payment processor, and a subscription renews automatically each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable. We will tell you in advance before changing the price of a subscription you have. A minor may buy a paid feature only with a parent or guardian's permission.

You can stop using Nichable and request account deletion at any time via the contact form. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or discontinue the service (or any part of it) at our discretion. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.

Nichable is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any opportunity listing or AI output is accurate or complete.

A listing marked "verified" has been checked against the organization's official source at a point in time. It is not a guarantee that the listing is correct, complete or current: sources change, our checks can miss things, and our research and summaries use AI tools, which can make mistakes. The organization's official page always controls. You are responsible for confirming eligibility, dates, costs and requirements with the organization before you apply, and we are not responsible for any missed deadline, rejected application or other outcome that results from relying on a listing.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nichable and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of opportunity, arising from your use of the service — including reliance on any opportunity listing or AI-generated content. Where liability can't be fully excluded, our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or US $50. Some places don't allow certain exclusions or limits, so some of these may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Nichable and its operator from any claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or content you submit or share. If you're a minor, this applies to your parent or guardian who agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

We may update these Terms as Nichable changes. If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. If you have a concern, please contact us first: most problems can be solved quickly, and you agree to try to resolve any dispute informally with us for at least 30 days before starting a legal claim.

Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court where it qualifies. To the extent permitted by law, any claim must be brought within one year after it arises.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and the policies they reference, are the entire agreement between you and us about Nichable. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision isn't a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a reorganization, merger, or sale. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. You agree that we may send you notices about your account and these Terms electronically, by email or on the site.
