Privacy Policy

Nichable is an independent service that helps high school students discover internships, research programs, scholarships, competitions, and similar opportunities, and uses AI to rank and explain how well they fit a student's profile. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have.

Nichable is intended for use by students who are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use this service. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly — contact us using the form linked at the bottom of this page if you believe this has happened.

We collect information in three ways:

Information you give us directly. When you create an account and complete your profile, this can include your name, email address, school, city and state, expected graduation year, intended major, interests, and career interests. If you choose to upload a resume or transcript, we store that file and any highlights our AI extracts from it. If you save opportunities, run searches, save searches, track application progress, or report a listing as incorrect, we store that activity against your account so the product can work the way it's supposed to.

Information from sign-in. Account creation and sign-in are handled by an authentication and session-management provider. That provider manages your password (or your Google account connection, if you sign in that way) and issues the session that keeps you logged in — we never see or store your password ourselves.

Information collected automatically. Like most web services, our hosting and database providers log basic technical information (such as IP address and request timestamps) for security and reliability purposes. We do not use third-party advertising networks or tracking cookies, and we do not sell your information to data brokers or advertisers.

We use the information above to:

• Match and rank opportunities against your profile, and generate plain-language explanations of why a given opportunity fits (or doesn't)
• Answer your searches conversationally, including follow-up refinements
• Extract highlights from a resume or transcript you choose to upload, if you ask us to
• Generate suggested application steps for opportunities you've saved
• Keep your saved opportunities, searches, and progress in sync across visits
• Send account-related email, such as sign-in and verification email (sent by our authentication provider on our behalf)
• Maintain the security and integrity of the service, and respond to reports or contact requests

Search ranking, fit explanations, and suggested application steps are generated using a third-party AI provider. To do this, relevant parts of your profile (such as grade level, location, and interests) and your search text are sent to that provider as part of generating a response. The provider processes this data to return a result to us; we do not control how the provider's infrastructure handles that request beyond what their own API terms specify.

If that provider is unavailable or unable to respond — for example, during a temporary outage or rate limit — that same request may be automatically retried through a backup third-party AI provider instead, using the same underlying data. This happens automatically and only when the prior provider couldn't complete the request.

AI-generated content is produced automatically and can be incomplete or inaccurate — always confirm deadlines, eligibility, and application details directly with the organization offering the opportunity before relying on anything the AI tells you.

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make Nichable work, each acting on our behalf and bound to use your data only for that purpose:

• An authentication and session-management provider
• Cloud hosting, database, and file-storage providers — running the application and storing your account data and any uploaded resume/transcript
• Third-party AI providers — used for AI search ranking, fit explanations, application-step generation, and resume/transcript highlight extraction

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Nichable, our users, or the public.

We keep the list above at the category level rather than naming each specific company we work with. If you'd like the current list of specific service providers, contact us using the form below and we'll share it.

We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the form below and we'll remove it, other than records we're required to keep for legal or security purposes.

• You can view and update most of your profile information anytime from Settings.
• You can remove an uploaded resume or transcript from Settings.
• You can unsave an opportunity or delete a saved search at any time.
• You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account entirely, by contacting us below.

If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you additional rights over your personal information: the right to know what we've collected, the right to delete it, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We don't sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

We rely on industry-standard practices from our providers — including encryption in transit, access controls on our database, and our authentication provider's security infrastructure — to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will notify you if we become aware of a breach affecting your information, as required by law.

We may update this policy as Nichable changes. If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date below and, where appropriate, let you know directly.
